International Womens Day ** NOT LIVE ** Calling all women, along with their supporters and volunteers who uplift them. You’re warmly invited to join us for International Women’s Day, a time to celebrate, reflect, and celebrate achievements.At the Talyllyn, we honor all women. International Women’s Day is a moment to recognize the strength, resilience, and contributions of women in all their diversity, and to reaffirm our commitment to inclusion, dignity, and human rights for everyone. Join us to celebrate International Women's Day.Women have always played a vital role in the story of the Talyllyn Railway and in the wider community of Tywyn. From early supporters, volunteers, and staff to today’s engineers, guards, General Managers, and community leaders, women have helped shape the railway not only as a historic institution but as a living part of Tywyn's identity.Their contributions extend far beyond the railway itself, strengthening Tywyn’s cultural life, economy, and sense of community. Through dedication, skill, and resilience, women have challenged traditional expectations, opened doors for future generations, and ensured that both the Talyllyn Railway and Tywyn continue to thrive.Celebrating women’s achievements on the Talyllyn Railway and within the community is about recognising the past, valuing the present, and committing to a future where opportunity, inclusion, and respect are at the heart of everything we do.The day begins at Tywyn Wharf Station with a special train ride, featuring an all-woman train crew, which will take you up to Abergynolwyn Station.Here you will meet some of our amazing Talyllyn Women volunteers, plus local trades women from our Community. Share knowledge, help and support each other, all who are prepared to share their skills. Feel free to participate in some of the demonstrations and learn about some of their amazing skillsets – from hedge laying, dragon making, sign writing and even learn to play the ukelele! to name but a few.Refreshments will be provided.This is a free train open to all women and their supporters within our Community, you must book to secure your seat.We look forward to celebrating this special day with you.
