The Floral Train
Enjoy an evening trip through the beautiful Fathew Valley on a train decorated with local flowers and celebrate another successful year with Tywyn Floral Society. An Annual event to help support this organisation in Tywyn. The cafe will be open for refreshments.

Steam Train Ride
Enjoy a fabulous ride behind one of our Steam Engines up the Fathew Valley. For full information please consult the FAQ page on our website. We offer two options on our trains. Our ‘Talyllyn Steam Explorer’ tickets allow you to ‘hop on and hop off’ the trains. You will have a seat in a mixed area. Our compartments give you your own private area, with your own door and windows, you will not be sharing with any other passengers but you will be able to see and hear passengers in the compartment next to you. You will have to stay with the same train for the round trip. Two options are available, a standard compartment or a first-class compartment. All prebooked tickets start from Tywyn Wharf Station only. The Railway is committed to minimising its ecological impact and has invested in carbon offset projects to mitigate the annual coal use. If you would like to offset your own journey, then please select the ‘carbon offset’ option as an extra. It will add £1 to your ticket cost.
Steam Train Ride - 1st Class
For those wanting a special treat or to treat a special person, book and enjoy a luxurious journey along the Talyllyn Railway behind one of our steam locomotives, travelling on board one of our First Class Compartments. If there is a group of you travelling then book both Compartments for a whole round trip which will comfortably seat 12 people. Stretch your legs at Nant Gwernol while the engine runs around, where you'll have the perfect opportunity to get some photos of the train. Add a little extra with several bookable options to collect from our café and take on board with you. Your journey will last 2 and a half hours which includes a 30 minute stop at the delightful village of Abergynolwyn, plenty of time for a cuppa at The Quarrymans Caban. Please note Dogs are not permitted in First Class Compartments.
7 Day Explorer Ticket
Unlimited travel for up to a week on trains where Talyllyn Explorer tickets are valid. Your ticket will be valid from the start date you have chosen and for 6 days after. Example - If you start you ticket on a Friday, it will be valid until the next Thursday. Please arrive in good time to collect your 7 Day Explorer ticket from Wharf Booking Office in Tywyn. NOTE: 7-Day Explorer Tickets are not valid on gala days or trains with special fares.
Steam Train Ride - Observation Saloon
New to our fleet, carriages 24 and 25 arrived in 2024,both boasting a superb observation saloon as part of it's structure. Perfect for you to enjoy with family, friends for any occasion. Seating up to 8 people, the perfect opportunity to all get together. You will start your your journey joining your compartment on the West end of the platform at Tywyn, as you depart enjoying panoramic views of the beautiful Fathew Valley. Your return journey will give you a birds eye view of the Loco in action as you return to Wharf directly behind the engine. Talyllyn Railway is more than just a train ride; it’s an immersive experience into the past. It’s a peaceful journey through Wales’ stunning landscapes, rich in heritage and charm. Whether you're a railway enthusiast or someone simply looking to enjoy the beauty of the Welsh countryside, the Talyllyn Railway provides a unique and memorable experience. Complete your journey by having your own person tour guide who will accompany you for the duration of your trip and explain the full history of The Talyllyn Railway, how it was saved and the people who saved it. They will also point of areas of interest and development right up to current day. A truly fascinating experience.
